One step closer to Brahma Gyaan

One step closer to Brahma gyan:::: A 'devotee' goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to the Temple . 'I've gone for 30 years now, he wrote, and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 mantras. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the Gurus are wasting theirs by giving services at all. This started a real controversy in the 'Letters to the Editor' column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to the Temple for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today! When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment! ------------------------------ So easy to beat yourself up over mistakes you've made. So many amongst us live in the past rather than loving the present and building a brilliant future. Some people stay stuck for years over something they did or a failure they've experienced. Sad. A life is a terrible thing to waste. But let me ask you a question: "is there really such a thing as a mistake?" First of all, no one tries to fail or mess things up. Every one of us wakes up in the morning, walks out into the world and does the best we can do based on what we know and the skills we have. But even more importantly, every so-called "mistake' is actually a rich source of learning. An opportunity to build more awareness and understanding and gain precious experience. Experience that will help us do, feel and be even better. So, just maybe, there are no mistakes. Just maybe what we could call failures are actually growth lessons in wolf's clothing. And just maybe the person who experiences the most wins. ---------------------- A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to Leave the examination room and said, 'Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side.' Very quietly, the doctor said, 'I don't know.' 'You don't know? You, a Christian man, Do not know what is on the other side?' The doctor was holding the handle of the door; On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, And as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room And leaped on him with an eager show of gladness. Turning to the patient, the doctor said, 'Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, And when the door opened, he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, But I do know one thing... I know my Master is there and that is enough.' ------------------------------- A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed. The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised. That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn't sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble. Moral of the story: If you don't give your hundred percent in a relationship, you'll always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent.. This is applicable for any relationship like love, employer-employee relationship, friendship etc., Give your hundred percent to everything you do and sleep peacefully ---------------------- The tragedy of life is not death, but what we let die inside us while we live. When u were born, the world rejoiced while u cried,-live ur life in such a way that when you die,-the world cries while u rejoice.. -------------------------------- Your days are your life in miniature. As you live your days, so you craft your life. What you do today is actually creating your future. The words you speak, the thoughts you think, the food you eat and the actions you take are defining your destiny รข€“ shaping who you are becoming and what your life will stand for. There's no such thing as an unimportant day. Each of us is called to greatness. Each of us has an exquisite power within us. But for this power to grow, we need to use it. The more you exercise it each day, the stronger it gets. The more this power gets tapped, the more confident you grow. The best among us are not more gifted than the rest. They just take small steps each day as they march towards their biggest life. And the days slip into weeks, the weeks into months and before they know it, they arrive at a place called Extraordinary. ----------------------------- If you can not respect , love , care about ,stand by or be honest with your own parents ,-who gave birth to you and were the very first people who fell in love with you -- then whether you accept this or not but you do not love anyone else in this world either with all your heart and soul ....and time will show that none of your children will stand by you either- when you will need them the most.. ----------------------------------- If you sit with a person who is smoking, even without ur knowledge- You will end up inhaling second hand smoke. In the same way, if you be in the company of saints who constantly preach about the importance of doing good karma-, automatically even without ur knowledge- u will end up doing a lot of positive and humble deeds. If you be in the company of a person who keeps saying bad words and abusing others then then obviously whether u like it or not -- u will end up being the same kind of person sooner or later. And if u constantly listen to Gods name, his praises, his bhajans-even without you being aware of it - the words that will come out of your mouth will be nothing but the nectar of love and bliss. So be in the company of God and even without your knowledge-You will find him seated in your heart - talking to you and finding solutions to ur problems and worries. You just need to take one step towards Him and He will take 100 steps towards you.. By Deepa H inspired by Sai -------------------------------------------- Always tell someone that you love them because you never know what day Will be their last, or your own. Always seek to resolve your problems or disagreements with loved ones Because if either of you should pass on before, the one who is left alive will have the rest of their life to ponder those unresolved feelings but will never find closure. And closure usually brings Peace... ......................................................................................With lots of good wishes and regards to all from Deepa H and family [ debu7366@yahoo.com ] ...............May Sai always give us peace of mind and May he always make us feel His presence where ever we go.... Message from the teachings of Sai baba for 18th November
Baba's Words are the Path to Self-Liberation
To make the journey of life run smoother, we need to choose a competent Guide or we may revert to square one. It is like getting caught in the Karmic wheel of birth-death-rebirth. When we are moving on one path, our vision is limited to the visible path ahead or surroundings. But, if we have a road-map, we could easily learn which path will lead us to which destination or where we have started or where we will reach. We will be aware of the ups and downs, valleys or road-blocks or forks on the way. Meaningless it would be to begin the journey without knowing the route and the destination looks elusive, difficult and time consuming. It may again prove fatal if we move into wild forest areas where the predators may prey on us. This is just about an ordinary path. But, how could humans travel and reach the permanent abode of peace? The glorious words of Baba, who is our Spiritual Guide, alone will help us reach it.We should have faith in Baba and try to practice His golden teachings with a pure mind and firm resolve. Then, we can definitely reach His Holy Presence - our ultimate destination. Just as the one travelling in a forest needs a guide, so do we, to move on the path of spirituality, with total faith in the Master's words. We have to cast our burdens on Baba only, who with His Guiding Light, shows us the right path to Self-liberation.

World's first replica of Dwarkamayee Masjid after Shirdi--Sai ka aangan.
This is the place that I surely would like to visit atleast once in my life time.It is in Gurgaon near Delhi- India. The temple has stone walls, old lamps from the times in Shirdi and artifacts just like one is used to seeing in Dwarakamai- the favourite residence of Shri Shirdi Sainath. No effort has been spared to identify every detail and replicate so that those who wish to visit Shirdi as often as possible can at least still fulfil their heart's desire by being in these environs for a few moments. The horse Shyam Karna, the tiger who died at Sai Baba's feet, the Chulla where he cooked food, and the Chakki with which he is said to have ground the ailments of His devotees are all replicated.
The life size statue of Baba ,in sitting posture made of fibre glass takes one back to the times when Sainath would sit among His followers and lovingly distribute Udi and food cooked with His own hands. The statue embodies and emits an aura of resplendence to all the devotees and countless others. The sacred embers of Lord Sai's Dhuni at Shirdi were brought from the sanctum sanctorium at Sai temple at Chhatarpur.

Undoubtely, Sai Ka Aagan is an oasis for those seeking spiritual solace and moments of peace amidst the hustle bustle of Delhi
For all those like me who wish to visit this temple on their next visit to Inida- Here is the address
Sai ka Aangan

Nine modes of Devotion - Bowing Before Sai
Bowing (Namaskar) means respecting by drawing together both the palms and sincerely bending the head in obedience. If, on the other hand, we raise both the hands in respect, it would mean seeking shelter saying that 'I am depending on you'. Falling on Baba's feet reverentially is known as prostration. It would mean offering one's own self to God by touching the earth with the feet, forehead, heart, hands and respecting with the words. Complete surrender is to offer "life as a flower of worship" to Baba's Feet. We should treat all creation, both of the living and non-living world, as an image of God and offer our respect. In Baba's view, God is one and one sincere gesture of respect is enough. When Sapathnekar bowed again and again, Baba remarked that sincerely bowing once is sufficient. The proprietor of the Bhajanmandali of Madras, came to Shirdi, sang bhajans expecting to get rewarded by Baba. Baba offered him nothing; instead, He appeared in his dreams, erased his past life deeds and revealed His Divinity. Then he bowed to Baba. Sai asked him "is there a difference in the previous bow and now"? The owner admitted that the previous one was done for the sake of getting rewarded by Him, but now he accepted Baba as God and bowed. One whole-hearted expression of bow to Baba will destroy the sins of billion births and bless our souls.

Message from the teachings of Sai baba for 12th September
Merit will Certainly be Honoured --
God created innumerable beings in the world. Every being has some unique quality. The musk deer, looking black in color, gives us valuable musk. The cooing of the cuckoo and the drone of the dragon-fly are pleasing to the ears. While flowers of variegated color are a feast to our eyes, the sweet fragrance they waft thrills our minds to sense the presence of God. The Creator blessed man with the 'intellect'. With His intellectual gifts, one is able to sing like a cuckoo, dance like a peacock and paint pictures and make dolls. The genius in the human intellect has been flowering every moment.
Except humans, no other being feels proud of his or her talent. No being in the creation wants to make money out of its talents except man or woman. How could we acquire the musical talent to sing melodiously, dance beautifully and compose lovely poems? All these marvellous talents are granted by Baba's Grace. If we ignore the fact and feel great because of our own merit, ego raises its ugly head and down-fall starts. Sometimes, we do blame God if our genius is not duly recognized. Baba, who blessed us with so many talents and skills, knows when, where and how to provide us with an opportunity to make use of our creative skills. Till then, let us put our creative genius in the service of Baba and get delighted and liberated.

Let us all Pray for Sai bhakt Manu Gidwani who is not feeling well. May Sai shower His kind grace upon Him with good health and prosperity and may he get well soon...
Below is the picture of Shri Shirdi Sai baba's kafini which is now with the family of Sai Bhagat Mhalasapati ji.. Thanks to Sai Bhakt Manu Gidwani for sharing this picture with all of us.

Below is the picture of Shri Sai padukas which are with the family of Bhagat Mhalaspati ji. My thousand pranams to the humble feet of our Shri Sadguru Sainath..
Think Again and again on the following ideas.
* Don’t you agree with Shri Sai saying that we meet people and face problems because of rinanubandh i.e. debt of the past life. If we believe in this saying of Baba then isn’t it required of us to accept our own problems and not always cry and fret about the same.
* Do you have the amount of Patience (Saburi) and Faith (Shraddha) needed to come closer to Baba. Do you think that your Shraddha is constant or it changes with problems and situations?
* Baba always advised people to develop qualities of kindness, impartiality, sympathy, tolerance and sacrifice to others. How much sacrifice do you do for others at your own cost? Do you think that whatever little sacrifice you think you do is enough?
Think ! Think Think!
------------
The below picture is designed by the a true Sai devotee who beleives that if u call out to Baba with faith , love and devotion for Him.He will surely come to you and bless you with His grace.
Message from the teachings of Sai baba for 5th September
Fickle-Mindedness - A Steady Mind
All humans may look alike by appearance. But, when we observe their mind and behaviour, we find some people fickle-minded. Some people though erred, they repent for their bad behaviour and resolve to turn good and go ahead. Is it not a mark of mental vacillation when one changes one's opinions frequently, doubts and believes whatever others say without exercising the God-gifted power of discernment? What is the use of human birth to such ones? Hence, one should never lose faith in God but remain stable and peaceful. There lies a ball of steel underneath a tree. A fallen leaf lies beside it. It is mid-summer and wind does not blow. To the onlookers, both the ball of steel and the dry leaf look like dolls. After a while, wind blew in gusts and the dry leaf rose up. The minds of some people, like the dry leaf, lend their ears to whatever people say and give their nodding approval, devoid of faith in Baba. They blow away in the direction of wind. They cannot keep the image of Baba steadily in their minds despite reading the life story of Baba. What Hemadpant could not get despite his many years of perusal of Guru Charitra, Sathe was blessed with the vision of Baba after a mere seven day perusal of the book. Sathe was blessed because his mind remained steady at the Feet of Baba like the ball of steel.

Legend of Shirdi coins
Not many might know that film actor Raj Kapoor and his family had a close association with Shirdi. The Kapoor family as well as the Nanda family, into which the late actor's daughter is married, also hold in high esteem the legend of the nine coins, which finds pride of place in the Shri Sai Satcharitra.
Just what is this legend of the nine coins? There was a woman devotee by the name of Laxmibai Shinde who used to feed the Sai Baba daily. As his last prasad, the sage of Shirdi gave nine coins to her in two installments of five and four each in quick succession on October 15, 1918 -- all belonging to the period of King George V -- just minutes before he attained Samadhi.
Nearly 83 years have passed but the legend lives on. The coins are now in the possession of Shailajamma Patil, grand-daughter of Laxmibai Shinde. ``The nine coins were with my grand-mother till 1963 and she then passed it on to her daughter-in-law. And since 1984, I have been doing daily puja for the nine coins both in the morning and in the evening,'' says Shailajamma.
Here in the Capital recently en route to Hardwar, where she took these coins for puja coinciding with the construction of a temple there, Shailajamma says the coins were given by Shirdi Sai Baba to her grand-mother immediately after Navrathri and even the Sri Sai Satcharitra recognises it as signifying the nine-fold path of Bhakti.
While these coins are under the safe custody of Shailajamma, those who come to know of the sanctity visit her residence to have their darshan. Interestingly, devotees had to go to Kopargaon, a village 9 k.m. from Shirdi to have a darshan of these coins till 1997.
Earlier these coins were preserved in a metallic frame but Ritu Nanda helped in the making of a silver frame,'' informs Shailajamma .
The presentation of the nine silver coins to Laxmibhai Shinde is still recounted in Shirdi by ardent devotees. ``The Baba was very happy with the devotion of my grandmother and he told her that he will make her name known across the seven seas,'' Shailajamma says. There is a firm belief that anything that had Baba's divine touch is a sacred relic and is at par with Baba's potential blessings, hence the veneration for the nine coins.

``While most of the time, these nine coins are kept for public display in my home, they are taken to houses of devotees for conducting a puja whenever required. For example, I have been bringing these coins regularly to the house of the Nandas in New Friends Colony where Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated each year with religious fervour,'' Shailajamma says, adding that anyone who wants to perform a special puja for the nine coins could contact her at goodhari@yahoo.com . Shailajamma now wants to set up an old age home at Shirdi and consecrate the nine coins in a specially built temple inside its premises. ``There is persistent request by devotees who are aware of the legend to have a darshan of the coins. That is why I propose to construct a temple where it can be permanently on public view,'' she says.

Message from the teachings of Sai baba for 4th September
Nerveless Tongue Dictates the World
We perform any deed with three tools, viz., the mind, word and body, which are called trikaranas. We think with our mind, speaks about it through the word and implement it with our body. Whatever we see with our eyes and hear through our ears, we have to convey it through the mouth only. Hence, the word uttered by the mouth is very sharp. That is why elders urge that we should not comment on what all we saw or heard. A word can inspire or depress the mind.If a thorn pricks our foot, we will forget about it as soon as the pain subsides. But, if a word pricks the mind like a thorn, we cannot forget the agony it caused. Such words will lead to misunderstandings and disasters. The tongue which is less than three inches long can kill a six foot man. Dharmaraja's small lie - Aswatthama hataha kunjaraha had caused Drona's death (He cried that Aswatthama was dead and then muttered under his breath that an elephant named 'Aswatthama' died). That is why Baba always preached not to scold or ill-treat others. The powers bestowed on us by God should be utilized for performing good deeds. Good people will reveal their love through words. Some people will get even impossible things done by their skilful use of words. When Baba, Divine Love Incarnate, spoke to the devotees, it was like the shower of nectarine rain on them.

Sai Bhagat Mhalsapati ji

Mhalsapati was a poor devotee (gold smith) who worshipped his hereditary deity Khandoba. Baba made His appearance at the gate of the temple of Khandoba. When Mhalsapati saw Him he spontaneously uttered ‘Aao Sai’ as if addressing Him by a name to the nameless. When asked about it he got fumbled and just said, I do not know. It is as if Khandoba made me utter these words through cosmic inspiration. Mhalsapati had the fortune of being in the constant company of Baba day and night. Baba protected him from all calamities in his wordly life. Though Mhalsapati was poor Baba never gave him any money and brought about Mhalsapati’s spiritual upliftment (Uddhar- Liberation)

Money Cannot Buy Everything
Human greed for money is increasing day by day, so also avarice and selfishness. People have started believing that money and wealth are very important. Assuming that money is the world's key factor, they want to make money by any means. But money cannot buy peace of mind which is very crucial to one's life. Medicines will not work when mind is in disorder. It is a reality that money plays an important role in certain things. Money serves as a useful tool to those who are financially helped in their dire need. We should realize the fact that money would be useful to fulfil earthly needs, but not helpful to attain salvation. One Swamiji had scores of devotees, disciples in different parts of the world. Among them, one rich but greedy devotee accumulated lots of money by not even spending on his own food. One day he called on the Swamiji. Having heard about his nature before, Swamiji gave a needle to him and asked him to carefully preserve it and it could be returned on reaching heaven. The rich man asked as to how can a needle be carried with him after death. Swamiji questioned him with a gleam of smile, 'what is the use of your piled up money'? You cannot carry it after death. Is it not! Baba used to accept dakshina from several people but distributed it on the same day. We should, therefore, donate part of our money to the needy. Charity is the heart of Divinity.

1 of the 3 portraits for which Shri Saibaba posed during his lifetime in Shirdi for Shri Jaiker to paint in 1913

For more details , plz go to http://saiananta.com/index.html Articles given to Kakasaheb Dixit by Sai baba
Kakasaheb was extremely lucky to have spent time with Shri Sai and along with the highest form of blessings he received some articles, all of which except one are with the family.
Kafni:
Baba had given one of his kafnis' to Kaka Saheb Dixit with instructions to wear it while performing the daily pooja. It some how disappeared from the Dixit Wada in 1946.
Silver Miniature Padukas:
Baba also gave him a miniature silver Padukas kept in a small silver dabbi. As per Baba instructions, Kaka used to always carry them in his pocket. The casket (dabbi) has Hanuman carving on the cover top.
Wooden Padukas:
Baba always used to say that one must follow all the rituals given in the Shashtas. Kaka Saheb wanted to keep Baba's paduka in his Dev Ghar. However as per the Shashtras' leather articles are not allowed in the pooja ghar ( prayer room.)Baba used to always wear leather Padukas (foot wear). Kaka therefore got one pair of padukas made of Shisham Wood and asked Baba to touch it and give him back with blessings. Baba did as per Kaka's wishes and this pair of blessed padukas is still with us.
Sai Baba's Portrait painted by the Famous Painter And Sai Devotee Late Shri Shyamrao Jaykar:
Sai Baba did not permit anyone to take his photographs. If anyone dared to do so without his permission the Frame would be either blank or without Baba. Saibaba on a rare occasion permitted Shri Shyamrao Jaykar (an eminent Painter of those times) to paint His Portrait.
The Late Shri Shyamrao Jaykar normally used to paint portraits of royal family members and British Lords, and in 1913 Rao Bahadur Moreshwar W. Pradhan requested him to visit Shirdi for making Baba's portrait.
Baba was not so famous at that time. Even Mr. Jaykar was unaware about the power of 'Fakir' and during his journey to Shirdi was thinking that the visit is going to be futile. Had been to some royal place, he would have earned a handsome amount.
After reaching Shirdi they went to Dwarkamai for Baba's Darshan. The first sentence Baba uttered was why he was in Shirdi. He should have gone to some royal place and painted their portraits. What was the use of taking out a portrait of a humble fakir like him?
However on Shyama's intervention Baba finally decided to sit in front of Jaykar and allowed him to paint three portraits one after other. After finishing his first portrait Shri Jaykar took it to Dwaraka Mai to show it to Baba, who asked him to present it to Kaka Saheb Dixit on Baba's behalf.
This unique portrait of Sai Baba has been in our Pooja Room since 1913. It may be noted here that only Shri Jaykar got rare honor of painting three portraits of Sai Baba by making him sit in front of him. All other paintings have been made after Baba's samadhi, based on either these paintings or Baba's photographs of the painting.
Shri Pradhan bought the remaining two paintings and they were lying with his family members in the folded canvas form for a very long time. Amazingly, around 1970, Shri Pradhan's son and grandson, both, got the same dream in the same night. Baba appeared in their dream and instructed them to deliver the portraits to our house. And thus we got one more blessed portrait of Baba. Above is the picture of that potrait.

Baba never Casts Burdens which We cannot Bear
God is an ocean of compassion. He is well aware of our physical and mental capacities. So, He will never cast on us burdens which we cannot bear. When a particular work is meant to be done by us, it would mean that Baba has complete faith in our capability to accomplish the task. On the other hand, if we fail to complete a project, it does mean that we have little faith in Baba. Fickle-minded as we are, we leave our own work and get involved in other's work and incur loss. Then we start blaming God for the resultant outcome. Ego-bloated, we think we can accomplish any task and thus we get unnecessarily involved in others work, fail miserably and get humiliated. Why do we behave like that? We have to introspect and make a self-audit of our shortcomings and wrong-doings. We should never fall victims to internal enemies like envy, pride and hate in our greed to look great in the public eye. In a state of humility of heart, we can prostrate before Baba and apologize for our wrong doings. By realizing our mistakes, we can accomplish either simpler or complex tasks with discipline and responsibility. Every work done in constant remembrance of Sai's Name may grant us peace and relaxation, but will never seem burdensome. Baba entrusts us with such tasks which we can accomplish with our abilities and with ease.

Message from the teachings of Sai baba for 30th Aug

Why Do You Fear, When Baba is Near?

In this world, man gets frightened for two reasons. One is sorrow about the past and another is worry about the future. Baba wants us not to fear anything. He assured that He will always be with us. Baba is our Father. When we firmly believe that we are His children, where is the need to fear? If we are afraid of everything, it means we have no faith in Baba. Lack of faith causes more stress, tension and fear. When we cast all our burdens and rely on Him in confident expectation, our bodies and minds rest in peace and solace and experience ever-new delight. We get so much satisfaction and happiness that it cannot be expressed in words. It is the experience of our elders that they did not worry about anything, as long as they looked to God installed in their hearts. The moment we begin to believe in Baba, our sorrows will vanish. Baba has questioned His devotees a number of times "Don't you still believe Me"? If our faith in Baba is firm, we can lead a peaceful life, because it is Baba who will be always with us. God will grant us power, love and peace, but not fear. Armed with this faith, let us make use of our thought, time, intellect and life in the contemplation of God. If all our burdens are cast on Baba, as a Compassionate Protector, He would take us into His fold. Why should we fear, when Baba is near and is within us?
