One step closer to Brahma Gyaan

One step closer to Brahma gyan:::: A 'devotee' goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to the Temple . 'I've gone for 30 years now, he wrote, and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 mantras. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the Gurus are wasting theirs by giving services at all. This started a real controversy in the 'Letters to the Editor' column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to the Temple for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today! When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment! ------------------------------ So easy to beat yourself up over mistakes you've made. So many amongst us live in the past rather than loving the present and building a brilliant future. Some people stay stuck for years over something they did or a failure they've experienced. Sad. A life is a terrible thing to waste. But let me ask you a question: "is there really such a thing as a mistake?" First of all, no one tries to fail or mess things up. Every one of us wakes up in the morning, walks out into the world and does the best we can do based on what we know and the skills we have. But even more importantly, every so-called "mistake' is actually a rich source of learning. An opportunity to build more awareness and understanding and gain precious experience. Experience that will help us do, feel and be even better. So, just maybe, there are no mistakes. Just maybe what we could call failures are actually growth lessons in wolf's clothing. And just maybe the person who experiences the most wins. ---------------------- A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to Leave the examination room and said, 'Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side.' Very quietly, the doctor said, 'I don't know.' 'You don't know? You, a Christian man, Do not know what is on the other side?' The doctor was holding the handle of the door; On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, And as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room And leaped on him with an eager show of gladness. Turning to the patient, the doctor said, 'Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, And when the door opened, he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, But I do know one thing... I know my Master is there and that is enough.' ------------------------------- A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed. The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised. That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn't sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble. Moral of the story: If you don't give your hundred percent in a relationship, you'll always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent.. This is applicable for any relationship like love, employer-employee relationship, friendship etc., Give your hundred percent to everything you do and sleep peacefully ---------------------- The tragedy of life is not death, but what we let die inside us while we live. When u were born, the world rejoiced while u cried,-live ur life in such a way that when you die,-the world cries while u rejoice.. -------------------------------- Your days are your life in miniature. As you live your days, so you craft your life. What you do today is actually creating your future. The words you speak, the thoughts you think, the food you eat and the actions you take are defining your destiny รข€“ shaping who you are becoming and what your life will stand for. There's no such thing as an unimportant day. Each of us is called to greatness. Each of us has an exquisite power within us. But for this power to grow, we need to use it. The more you exercise it each day, the stronger it gets. The more this power gets tapped, the more confident you grow. The best among us are not more gifted than the rest. They just take small steps each day as they march towards their biggest life. And the days slip into weeks, the weeks into months and before they know it, they arrive at a place called Extraordinary. ----------------------------- If you can not respect , love , care about ,stand by or be honest with your own parents ,-who gave birth to you and were the very first people who fell in love with you -- then whether you accept this or not but you do not love anyone else in this world either with all your heart and soul ....and time will show that none of your children will stand by you either- when you will need them the most.. ----------------------------------- If you sit with a person who is smoking, even without ur knowledge- You will end up inhaling second hand smoke. In the same way, if you be in the company of saints who constantly preach about the importance of doing good karma-, automatically even without ur knowledge- u will end up doing a lot of positive and humble deeds. If you be in the company of a person who keeps saying bad words and abusing others then then obviously whether u like it or not -- u will end up being the same kind of person sooner or later. And if u constantly listen to Gods name, his praises, his bhajans-even without you being aware of it - the words that will come out of your mouth will be nothing but the nectar of love and bliss. So be in the company of God and even without your knowledge-You will find him seated in your heart - talking to you and finding solutions to ur problems and worries. You just need to take one step towards Him and He will take 100 steps towards you.. By Deepa H inspired by Sai -------------------------------------------- Always tell someone that you love them because you never know what day Will be their last, or your own. Always seek to resolve your problems or disagreements with loved ones Because if either of you should pass on before, the one who is left alive will have the rest of their life to ponder those unresolved feelings but will never find closure. And closure usually brings Peace... ......................................................................................With lots of good wishes and regards to all from Deepa H and family [ debu7366@yahoo.com ] ...............May Sai always give us peace of mind and May he always make us feel His presence where ever we go.... Helping Others Reach Heights is the Quality of True Leadership
A true leader will have two basic traits. The first one is self-growth and the second is to help his followers reach similar heights. Such a good leader will not mind criticism but follows the right principles and performs them accordingly. His mission is to accomplish the chosen task and never think of others or their remarks. He would stand firm and never shows his back, let failures come or companions desert him. No one can distract his mind from his objectives. He would not get tempted but persuades his associates to follow him. If need be, he would 'overtake' everyone and march in pursuit of success.
A true leader is the one, who would take the initiative, presses forward and leads others on his chosen path. He cannot be deemed as a good leader if he lends his ears to what others comment upon his ways, swerves from his path and stoops down. A noble leader wields great impact on the society and pulls his followers from slipping into weaknesses. In case, if a person is a God-realized Guide on the path of spirituality, he would abide by the divine commands and leads an ideal life with unstinted faith and dedication to God. Under the guidance of such a Supreme Master, we have to set right our conduct on our own. Thus, Baba, God Incarnate, served as the Sadguru.

God Alone can Dispel the Disbelief in God In proportion to the actions of past lives, man experiences the present birth. We acquire merit through good works and sin through bad deeds. If we fail to abide by the spiritual laws set by God and commit sins with reckless behaviour, God will not rain His Mercy on us. If we repent and entreat God to forgive us and get rid of sins committed out of ignorance, He will take us closer. It is enough if we sincerely pray to God to get absolved of sins and reach Him. But, some people would arrogantly argue that they are flawless and proclaim that God’s help is not needed. How could God save those people who would like to live in perpetual darkness? Baba, the Ocean of Kindness and Mercy, by the touch of His protective hands, would lead those, who struggle to come out of darkness into light and seek His Shelter, on the path of the light. To err is human. But unpardonable is the lack of faith in God. Baba would not allow people into the Masjid who doubt and criticize Him. He sees that they repent, change their minds and seek His refuge, before eventually taking them nearer. To deny God and denigrate Him is blasphemy. It would be a disgrace to blame and insult God who is the manifestation of Absolute Truth. It is better to bow to the All-Merciful God and remain silent rather than complain against Him.
Quote of BABA: The simple remembrance of My name "Sai-Sai" will do away with sins of speech and hearing

A boy and a girl were playing together. But the boy couldn't sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble.Moral of the story: If you don't give your hundred percent in a relationship, you'll always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent.. This is applicable for any relationship like love, employer-employee relationship, friendship etc., Give your hundred percent to everything you do and sleep peacefully If We follow Health Rules, we can never fall Sick Human life is a great boon. We should do virtuous deeds with this body, purify the soul and reach God. Thus, our body which is meant for getting liberation from the cycle of birth and death should be carefully taken care of. But it does not mean that we must have too much attachment with the body. Both the body and mind must be kept pure. We should purify the heart as soon as we wake up in the morning. Proper food and exercise will keep the body fit and healthy. Only when the body is healthy, the mind too can be firm and longs to meditate on Baba.Talkativeness breeds troubles. So, we should speak to the point in a pleasant tone. Our conduct is also important to our health. Just as the dragon-fly sucks nectar without disturbing the pollen, so also we should behave without hurting others. We should take fresh and tasty food in limited quantities. But some people observe fast in the name of devotion. But, Baba never encouraged such practice. By ensuring discipline during the day, we have to take limited food at dusk and meditate for a while on Baba before going to bed. Rules that regulate and restrain our body and mind, help keep them healthier too. Those who have the wealth of health can peacefully render service to Baba and the society. We should not ignore the truth that by using this mortal body we can reach the eternal abode of Baba.

If you sit with a person who is smoking, even without ur knowledge- You will end up inhaling second hand smoke.

By Deepa H inspired by Sai

Quote of Baba::

Both wicked and virtuous want good things from me? How (or whence) can I give? (i.e. If they have not put forward the good karma warranting the gift)

As Body Needs Nourishment, so alsothe Soul Needs Meditation
The individual soul is part of the Universal Soul. The soul in the body makes it a home and experiences the piled-up sins and merits of past life and finally frees itself from the bondage. Some people deny the presence of soul within their being by showing utmost care and concern only for their bodies. While not neglecting the care of the human body, we must strive to awaken the awareness of the Soul-presence within us. We have to leave behind wealth amassed when we breathe our last. What accompanies us when soul departs from body are the deeds of merit and sin committed when we were alive. Material wealth, name and fame we acquired never help our self-purification.If we keep aside the need for spirituality and crave for the ephemeral physical needs, what remains is only dissatisfaction. Just as the nutritious food is necessary for body's strength, spiritual nourishment through meditation is as much a necessity. Without physical strength, human body will not last long. So also the pace of spiritual practice gets halted by lack of soul-strength. Daily meditation on the Divine One not only energizes the soul but also rids us of negative thoughts and leads to Self-realization. By regular reading of Sai's teachings, we can put into practice His sayings for our Self-enlightenment.

Quote of BABA:

If any men or creature? come to you, do not discourteously drive them away, but receive them well and treat them with due respect.

No Doctor can Excel Baba in the Universe
The deeds of past lives will torment the mankind in the form of disease. Yet, we do take medicines prescribed by doctors and we pray to God. But the devotees of Baba are the fortunate ones. Where is the need for a doctor when they have Baba? The Divine Doctor Baba can cure both physical and mental ailments as well as the very 'disease of life'. His mode of treatment is amazing and unique. Baba effected instant cures. Bhimajee Patil suffered from chronic T.B. which doctors gave up as a lost case. He wiped Baba's Feet with tears and the Merciful Baba ordered him to stay in Bhimbhai's house. He cured Patil's deadly disease by absolving him from sins by twice appearing in his dreams.Once Balashimpi Ganapathi suffered from cold chill fever for which Baba suggested him to feed the black dog at the temple with curd rice. In other instance Kaka Mahajan was seen repairing the Masjid despite his diarrhea. Chiding, Baba fed him with pea-nuts and advised rest. His diarrhea instantly stopped and happily he attended to the Masjid repairs. Baba cured Dattopant's stomach-ache with His grace, while sonamukhi potion cured that of Shyama's. Even now, Baba has been curing many patients by His miracles and millions are blessed with good health by His grace. There is no other doctor except Baba who can heal the sick people by wiping their past sins away.

Celebrations in Shirdi

Baba used to treat both Hindus and Muslims in an impartial manner. He would chant 'Allah Malik' which means 'Allah is the Almighty God'. He used to smoke from the clay pipe. He would lit lamps in the Masjid. He planted a basil in front of the Masjid. He allowed Hindus to worship and perform religious rites. A police inspector, Gopalrao Gund was a great devotee of Baba. Despite having three wives, he had no children. He became a father with the blessings of Sri Sai. Over-joyed, with the permission of Baba, he conducted Urs celebration at Shirdi. A Muslim, Amir Shakkar, performed the sandal paste ceremony in honour of the great Muslim Fakirs. The festivity of Ramnavami held at Shirdi is very auspicious and important for all Baba's devotees. Everyone would celebrate this ceremony with religious gaiety. Urs is also celebrated on the Ramnavami day. Baba's message to celebrate Urs on the Ramnavami day was to instil religious tolerance and amity in the minds of both Hindus and Muslims. That day is a very auspicious day for the Hindus. So, the devotees celebrate Lord Rama's birthday and thereupon receive Baba's blessings. Thus, both the festivals were held simultaneously at Shirdi, in the presence of Baba. By getting the two celebrations conducted together, Baba fostered religious tolerance and love.

Shri Shirdi Sai speaks-3rd April/ Congrats !! India won the worldcup

Hahaha!!! Just could'nt stop sharing the below picture.. Its a special day for all the Indians . We won the worldcup..Congrats to all !! Jai Ho!! Do You Agree?? “We all consider ourselves to be part of MANKIND…Yes, we ARE part of MAN, but how KIND are we?”
Baba Showers His Grace at the Right Time

Baba listens to our prayers and showers His grace. But this is not as we wish or as we expect it. He is always at our back to protect us. This is evident in His creation. It takes enough time for a child to take birth, for a flower to bloom, for a tree to grow, for a blade of grass to rise. Likewise, Baba takes His own time to shower His grace on us. But lacking patience, we pester Baba for overnight results. He will deliberately delay, inspite of our prayers, to ensure that we understand His teachings. Baba waits until the effects of our Karma, or past actions, are exhausted and we are ripe and ready to receive His Divine Grace. Not appreciating Baba's love for us, we blame Him with ill-intent, unaware that what Baba delays are not deliberate denials, but lessons in patience (Saburi) He wants to teach us.The miraculous way Baba healed people suffering from chronic diseases such as eye ailments, leprosy, tuberculosis etc., are incredible and unique. The love of Baba can instantly heal the sick, once they repent for their sins and resolve to live uprightly. We are struck with fear in times of danger and it robs us of the sense of discretion. We need not doubt that Baba may not respond to our prayers. The All-Merciful Baba forgets our blunders, forgives our sins, hugs us as Divine Mother He is and makes us happier as we fervently love and pray to Him.
Quote of BABA:

People must put full faith in the Lord's providence. They should not worry about food and clothing. They should not waste time on these, People became more and more ascetical, they are disposed to look more at the evil side of things.

We all at some point of our lives have heard about the rarest and priceless gems like Nagmani (snake jewel), Gajamani (elephant jewel), Nilmani, (blue precious stone)- But did you know that they really exist.???..Do you know about a temple where only hindus are allowed to enter??? Do you know which is the Holiest temple in the world?? ..... I am sure most of you have no clue about the answer..

Just like all of you even I was not aware about any such temple until a few months ago..It is none other than the Pashupathinath temple in Kathmandu,Nepal...

Many of us , including me often say that there is a lot of bad and evil in this world but the truth is the world is full of divinity. It is just us who fail to look in the right direction.. So Let us visit one such sacred and divine temple today and make our lives feel blessed..

Sai bhakt

Deepa H

Pashupatinath, or Pashupati, is a Hindu temple on the banks of the Bagmati River in Deopatan, a village 3 km northwest of Kathmandu. It is dedicated to a manifestation of Shiva called Pashupati . Pashupathinath is the guardian spirit and the holiest of all Shiva shrines in Nepal. Lord Shiva is known by many different names; and Pashupati is one. Pashu means living beings, and Pati means master. In other words Pashupati is the master of all living beings of the universe. This is how lord Pashupati is eulogized in the Vedas, Upnisada and ohter religious books.
Regarded as the most sacred Hindu temple of Lord Shiva in the world, Pashupatinath Temple's existence dates back to 400 A.D. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the world come to pay homage to this temple, that is also known as 'The Temple of Living Beings'.
Pashupatinath Temple, which is considered one of the most sacred and divine temples of Pashupati that you could ever go to is one of the oldest Lord Shiva temples in the world. It is only accessible to those of the Hindu faith, for those who are not they must be satisfied with viewing the temple from a distance. Even from a distance it is worth viewing the gold and silver temple glittering in the sun.
The main treasury 'mul dhukuti' of Pashupatinath is believed to contain priceless items, including Nagmani (snake jewel), Gajamani (elephant jewel), Nilmani, (blue precious stone).
The Pashupatinath Temple is situated in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal near the Bagmati River which has highly sacred properties. Thus the banks are lined with many ghats (bathing spots) for use by pilgrims. Renovating or furnishing these sites has always been regarded as meritorious.
Near the river is where you will find Arya Ghat where most of the dead are taken and cremated
Arya Ghat, dating from the early 1900s, is of special importance because it is the only place where lustral water for Pashupatinath Temple can be obtained and it is where members of the royal family are cremated.
The main cremation site is Bhasmeshvar Ghat, which is the most-used cremation site in the Kathmandu Valley. The preferred bathing spot for women is the Gauri Ghat, to the north.
According to a legend recorded in local texts, especially the Nepalamahatmya and the Himavatkhanda, the Hindu god Shiva once fled from the other gods in Varanasi to Mrigasthali, the forest on the opposite bank of the Bagmati River from the temple. There, in the form of a gazelle, he slept with his consort Parvati. When the gods discovered him there and tried to bring him back to Varanasi, he leapt across the river to the opposite bank, where one of his horns broke into four pieces. After this, Shiva became manifest as Pashupati (Lord of Animals) in a four-face (chaturmukha) linga.
There are many legends describing as to how the temple of Lord Pashupatinath came to existence here. Some of them are narrated below:-

The Cow Legend:

Legend says that Lord Shiva once took the form of an antelope and sported unkown in the forest on Bagmati river's east bank. The gods later caught up with him, and grabbing him by the horn, forced him to resume his divine form. The broken horn was worshipped as a linga but overtime it was buried and lost. Centuries later an astonished herdsmen found one of his cows showering the earth with milk. Digging deep at the site, he discovered the divine linga of Pashupatinath.

The Linchchhavi Legend :According to Gopalraj Vamsavali, the oldest ever chronicle in Nepal, this temple was built by Supus Padeva, a Linchchhavi King, who according to the stone inscription erected by Jayadeva 11 in the courtyard of Pashupatinath in 753 AD, happened to be the ruler 39 generations before Manadeva (464-505 AD).
The Devalaya Legend:Another chronicle states that Pashupatinath Temple was in the form of Linga shaped Devalaya before Supus Padeva constructed a five storey temple of Pashupatinath in this place. As the time passed, the need for reparing and renovating this temple arose. It is learnt that this temple was reconsturcted by a mediaeval King named Shivadeva (1099-1126 AD). It was renovated by Ananta Malla adding a roof to it.
Across the Bagmati River are 15 votive shrines, the Pandra Shivalaya, which were built to enshrine lingas in memory of deceased persons between 1859 and 1869.
It is not known for certain when Pashupatinath was founded. Tradition says it was constructed by Pashupreksha of the Somadeva Dynasty in the 3rd century BC, but the first historical records date from the 13th century. The ascetic Pashupata sect was likely related to its foundation. Pashupati was a tutelary deity of the ancient rulers of the Kathmandu Valley; in 605 AD, Amshuvarman considered himself favored by his touching of the god's feet. By the later Middle Ages, many imitations of the temple had been built, such as in Bhaktapur (1480), Lalitpur (1566) and Benares (early 19th century). The original temple was destroyed several times until it was given its present form under King Bhupalendra Malla in 1697.
Pashupati Temple stands in the center of the town of Deopatan, in the middle of an open courtyard. It is a square, two-tiered pagoda temple built on a single-tier plinth, and it stands 23.6 meters above the ground. Richly ornamented gilt and silver-plated doors are on all sides. On both sides of each door are niches of various sizes containing gold-painted images of guardian deities. Inside the temple itself is a narrow ambulatory around the sanctum. The sanctum contains a one-meter high linga with four faces (chaturmukha) representing Pashupati, as well as images of Vishnu, Surya, Devi and Ganesh.
The priests of Pashaputinath are called Bhattas and the chief priest is called Mool Bhatt or Raval. The chief priest is answerable only to the King of Nepal and reports to him on temple matters on a periodic basis.
The struts under the roofs, dating from the late 17th century, are decorated with wood carvings of members of Shiva's family such as Parvati, Ganesh, Kumar or the Yoginis, as well as Hanuman, Rama, Sita, Lakshman and other gods and goddesses from the Ramayana.
Cow Walking Past 7 Century ,-Half-Buried Buddha Statue
Temple to Vasuki, King of Nagas :

In the northeast corner of the temple courtyard is the small pagoda temple of Vasuki, the King of the Nagas. Vasuki has the form of a Naga (mythical snake) from the waist upwards, while the lower parts are an intricate tangle of snakes' bodies. According to local belief, Vasuki took up residence here in order to protect Pashupati. One can often see devotees circumambulating and worshipping Vasuki before entering the main sanctum.
Pashaputi Temple's extensive grounds include many other old and important temples, shrines and statues. South of the temple, for instance, is Chadeshvar, an inscribed Licchavi linga from the 7th century, and north of the temple is a 9th-century temple of Brahma. On the south side of Pashupati temple is the Dharmashila, a stone where sacred oaths are taken, and pillars with statues of various Shah kings.
What to See :

The temple of Lord Pashupatinath stands in the middle of an open courtyard. It is a square shaped pagoda temple built on single platform measuring 23.6 meters from the ground.
Situated on the south side, is a depiction of Shiva as Yogeshvara, Lord of yogis.

Carving on west gate
There are gold gilt doors on all the four sides of the temple. Inside the temple there is a narrow walk engulfing the sanctum from where one can have closer view of Shivalinga. On the both sides of each door of the temple there are artistic niche of different sizes containing attractiv images of Apsara, Ashtha Bhairava and other gods and goddesses. These images and niches, painted with gold enhance the grandeur of the temple. The latticed windows below the roof are another elements of attraction. The struts supporting the roofs and depicting the image of different postures are equally alluring. The gold gilt images of birds in flying posture in all the four corners of the roof and the winged images of lion, griffin, Ajarapurusa and Mahanaga on the struts in all the corners of the temple gies soaring beauty to the temple. On the upper part of the struts supporting the lower roof, the images of moon, sun and a Purna-Kalasha are carved out. This Purna Kalasha is worshiped as a symbol of Guheshwori.

The western door has a statue of a large Bull, Nandi, is ornamented in gold. This black stone idol, about 6 ft in height and circumference, adds to the beauty and charisma of the temple.
Golden Door At Pashupatinath Temple Entrance :

The two level roofs of the temple are embellished with gold and the four main doors are adorned with silver.
The temple is famous for its awe-inspiring and astounding pagoda architecture.
In the sanctum of the temple, there is a very attractive, about three feet high Shivalinga with four faces. All these faces have different names and significance. The face facing east is known as Tatpurusha and the one facing south as Aghora. Similarly, the faces looking west and north are known by the name Sadhyojata and Vamadeva respectively. The upper portion of this linga is known as Ishan. These faces are also defined as the symbol of four dharmas (the most famous places of pilgrimage for Hindus) and four Vedas (sacred books of Hindus). The images of Vishnu, Surya, Devi and Ganesh are also placed in the sanctum of the temple.
The temple is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.
At the northern end of the Pashupatinath terraces near Kathmandu is a Shiva lingam on a circular pedestal dating from the 6C. A finely featured face of Shiva has been sculpted on one side of the lingam.
Two important idols inside Pashupati area—Mrigeshwar Mahadev and Virupakshe (also known as Kali)—are gradually losing their charm after Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) closed the eastern entrance of Pashupatinath Temple citing security reasons. Locals and priests say a huge crowd used to visit the “small” temple of the two idols situated in the east side of the main temple. “After Pashupati Area Development Trust closed the eastern entrance last year, the number of people coming to worship these idols is on the decline,” said Badri Adhikari, a priest who has been stationed inside the Pashupati area for the last 15 years. Earlier, people used to worship Mrigeshwar Mahadev before offering prayers at the main temple, added Adhikari. Around a year ago, the eastern gate of the main temple was closed for a day after the Indian priest (the main priest of Pashupatinath Temple) was beaten up by a group of people demanding appointment of Nepali origin priest. Priests say the idol of Mrigeshwar Mahadev carries the meaning of Pashupati. “Pashupati actually means the incarnation of lord Mahadev as an animal,” said Adhikari. “The idol of Mrigeshwar Mahadev is the only idol which depicts Mahadev’s incarnation as mirga (deer).” According to Hindu mythology, Mahadev had chosen the Pashupati area as a hideout to trick his wife, goddess Parvati. It is said that once upon a time when Mahadev was on bad terms with Parvati, he came to live in Mrigasthali in the form of a mirga. Later, when Parvati came to know she also came there in the form of a female mirga to placate her husband and take him back to Kailash Parbat, the house of Mahadev and Parvati. There is another interesting belief associated with the idol of Virupakshe (Kali). The idol, half of which is already underground, is believed to be gradually sinking underneath the earth. Some Hindus believe that when the idol totally disappears underground, the universe will collapse, marking the beginning of a new era after Kaliyug. “The idol is not sinking. It is exactly in the same state as it was 15 years ago,” said Adhikari. “However, what is important is the belief and sentiments of people associated with these idols.” “Pashupati Area Development Trust’s decision to close the eastern entrance has, in a way, played with the sentiments of people who want to worship Mrigeshwar Mahadev and Virupakshe.” “This place, which once used to be a major attraction of Pashupati, seems overshadowed by the PADT’s irresponsible step. If it was closed on the ground of security, more police personnel should have be deployed instead of closing the gate.” When asked, PADT treasurer Narottam Vaidhya said the gate will be opened as early as possible.
The 11 small stone Chaityas (stupas), each with a lingam, lined up nicely to give a seemingly endless mirror effect.
The unique feature of this temple is that only 4 priests can touch the idol. This tradition is supposed to have started by Sage Shankaracharya in 8th century, ostensibly to stop human sacrifice which was prevalent in that temple. This procedure is also followed in other temples around India which were sanctified by Adi Shankaracharya. Malla kings honoured the request of Adi shankarachaya as latter being one of the greatest ever Hindu acharyas. However, this tradition was recently changed after the historic revolution in Nepal which demolished the monarchy and established democracy where Nepalese priests supported by the anti- Indian Maoists government. There was widespread protests by most Nepalese as they saw this as an intereference in their religion.

In January 2009, after the forced resignation by the chief priest of Pashupatinath temple, the Maoist-led government of Nepal "hand picked" Nepalese priest to the temple, thus bypassing the temple's long-standing requirements. This appointment was contested by the Bhandaris of the temple, stating that they were not against the appointment of Nepalese priests but against the appointment without proper procedure. After the appointment was challenged in the court of laws, the appointment was overruled by Supreme Court of Nepal. However, the government did not heed the ruling and continued with its decision. This led to a public outrage and protests over lack of transparency. The paramilitary group of CPN (Maoist), called YCL, attacked the protesters leading to over a dozen injuries . Lawmakers and party activists of the opposition parties joined protests and stated that their support were with the Bhandaris and other protesters. However, after long dissatisfaction and protest of Hindus both inside and outside Nepal, the government reverted its decision and reinstated Indian priests
May this sacred Shivlingam shower us with its grace and bless our souls with peace , faith and devotion.
Oh Baba! Bale Me Out of the Stress-Filled Life

The journey of civilization had its beginning in the Old Stone Age and going towards space odyssey. In the mad pursuit of name, prestige, money and lust for power, man has become restless, making life a never-ending struggle. We have come to a stage to view that life is an endless race for achieving things but we are unable to justify the race. The moment one wakes up in the morning, one is occupied with the thoughts of home, family, children, employment, business and so on. Man's life has become a mechanical entity-cheerless and restless. While the poor man aims at earning some money, the rich are greedy of acquiring more and more wealth. This leads to unending desires and tensions creep in, ultimately turning life into a stress-filled, monotonous journey. One must realize that continual craving for carnal pleasures will end up one's life in utter misery. It is like chasing a mirage of joy in the desert of life. The secret of stress-free joy of living lies in the meditation on God. We must get out of the hustle and bustle of daily life to steal a few moments for contemplation of God. Of what use our lives are, if we do not pay heed to the word of Baba and meditate on His Form? Let us pray to Baba to free our minds from the vice-like grip of tensions and stresses to enable us to leap into His Lap of Love and Peace.
Quote of BABA:

It is My special characteristic to free any person who surrenders completely to Me and who does worship Me faithfully and who remembers Me and mediates on Me constantly.
