One step closer to Brahma Gyaan

One step closer to Brahma gyan:::: A 'devotee' goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to the Temple . 'I've gone for 30 years now, he wrote, and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 mantras. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the Gurus are wasting theirs by giving services at all. This started a real controversy in the 'Letters to the Editor' column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to the Temple for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today! When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment! ------------------------------ So easy to beat yourself up over mistakes you've made. So many amongst us live in the past rather than loving the present and building a brilliant future. Some people stay stuck for years over something they did or a failure they've experienced. Sad. A life is a terrible thing to waste. But let me ask you a question: "is there really such a thing as a mistake?" First of all, no one tries to fail or mess things up. Every one of us wakes up in the morning, walks out into the world and does the best we can do based on what we know and the skills we have. But even more importantly, every so-called "mistake' is actually a rich source of learning. An opportunity to build more awareness and understanding and gain precious experience. Experience that will help us do, feel and be even better. So, just maybe, there are no mistakes. Just maybe what we could call failures are actually growth lessons in wolf's clothing. And just maybe the person who experiences the most wins. ---------------------- A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to Leave the examination room and said, 'Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side.' Very quietly, the doctor said, 'I don't know.' 'You don't know? You, a Christian man, Do not know what is on the other side?' The doctor was holding the handle of the door; On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, And as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room And leaped on him with an eager show of gladness. Turning to the patient, the doctor said, 'Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, And when the door opened, he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, But I do know one thing... I know my Master is there and that is enough.' ------------------------------- A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed. The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised. That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn't sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble. Moral of the story: If you don't give your hundred percent in a relationship, you'll always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent.. This is applicable for any relationship like love, employer-employee relationship, friendship etc., Give your hundred percent to everything you do and sleep peacefully ---------------------- The tragedy of life is not death, but what we let die inside us while we live. When u were born, the world rejoiced while u cried,-live ur life in such a way that when you die,-the world cries while u rejoice.. -------------------------------- Your days are your life in miniature. As you live your days, so you craft your life. What you do today is actually creating your future. The words you speak, the thoughts you think, the food you eat and the actions you take are defining your destiny – shaping who you are becoming and what your life will stand for. There's no such thing as an unimportant day. Each of us is called to greatness. Each of us has an exquisite power within us. But for this power to grow, we need to use it. The more you exercise it each day, the stronger it gets. The more this power gets tapped, the more confident you grow. The best among us are not more gifted than the rest. They just take small steps each day as they march towards their biggest life. And the days slip into weeks, the weeks into months and before they know it, they arrive at a place called Extraordinary. ----------------------------- If you can not respect , love , care about ,stand by or be honest with your own parents ,-who gave birth to you and were the very first people who fell in love with you -- then whether you accept this or not but you do not love anyone else in this world either with all your heart and soul ....and time will show that none of your children will stand by you either- when you will need them the most.. ----------------------------------- If you sit with a person who is smoking, even without ur knowledge- You will end up inhaling second hand smoke. In the same way, if you be in the company of saints who constantly preach about the importance of doing good karma-, automatically even without ur knowledge- u will end up doing a lot of positive and humble deeds. If you be in the company of a person who keeps saying bad words and abusing others then then obviously whether u like it or not -- u will end up being the same kind of person sooner or later. And if u constantly listen to Gods name, his praises, his bhajans-even without you being aware of it - the words that will come out of your mouth will be nothing but the nectar of love and bliss. So be in the company of God and even without your knowledge-You will find him seated in your heart - talking to you and finding solutions to ur problems and worries. You just need to take one step towards Him and He will take 100 steps towards you.. By Deepa H inspired by Sai -------------------------------------------- Always tell someone that you love them because you never know what day Will be their last, or your own. Always seek to resolve your problems or disagreements with loved ones Because if either of you should pass on before, the one who is left alive will have the rest of their life to ponder those unresolved feelings but will never find closure. And closure usually brings Peace... ......................................................................................With lots of good wishes and regards to all from Deepa H and family [ debu7366@yahoo.com ] ...............May Sai always give us peace of mind and May he always make us feel His presence where ever we go.... Spread the Message of God

When we lack the flair and power to grasp the divine words, some noble people will act as mediators between us and the God Supreme. To explain it in our modern scientific terminology, a person makes a telephone call. The telephone operator will connect it to the right person. Imagine, the other person did not answer the call. The operator would try again and again. Even then, if the phone is not lifted, the other person would be at a great loss. Sometimes it would spell disaster. In this way, some great people who are committed to this purpose will teach us the right conduct and techniques of spiritual meditation. They even explain us ways and means to overcome the problems.
All the blessed souls will attempt to preach us spiritual messages. It would be foolish to say, "what have they to teach me"? If someone speaks good words again and again, it is God who communicates the message through that person. It is not a word but a beacon-light to bring us out from darkness. The Merciful God incarnated several times in several human forms on the earth in a bid to put us on the right path. One such move is the manifestation of Sai Baba to put us on the path of righteousness. Therefore, we have to spread the divine message to one and all. Every effort of ours to keep mankind on the right track is also a part of the All-Merciful Sai's service.

C.B. Satpathy: BABA May I Answer
I am an ardent devotee of Shri Sai Baba. I am facing lots of problems at present. Sometimes
my faith in God starts dwindling and I feel there is nothing greater than destiny. Is my feeling correct?
I am sure that what you think to be a problem is not a problem but is certain type of an experience given to you by nature in order to evolve you. Destiny is always created by God, through a combination of circumstances and our own efforts. As per the Karma Theory of the Hindus nothing happens in life i.e. good or bad or neutral unless one has caused it to happen it through his actions in the past lives or in this life. In ‘Shri Sai Sat Sachritra’, Baba has advised His devotees not to be shaken by any problem whatsoever but to maintain patience and see what is coming in future while praying Him all the time. A wise devotee will always try to evolve or rebuild his destiny through the help of the Master. The Master can charter the course of His disciple much better in case the devotee has full faith in the Master (Shraddha) and lots of patience (Saburi).
C.B. Satpathy: BABA May I Answer
I believe in Shirdi Sai Baba and have His picture and idol in my house. Recently, a thief came
to my house and stole some money and things. My faith was a bit shaken because I thought
that Baba will protect my house from such untoward events. Should I dismiss events like this
as Baba’s wish?
Please read Shri Sai Satcharitra. It will give you lots of answers through examples. If one loses faith by entry of an intruder in his house, then one should lose faith in himself when a bad thought enters his mind leading to evil activities. Bad thoughts are like a thieves who steals away our good quality and virtues. The true devotees will see the Sadguru in both good and bad and pleasurable and harmful aspects of life. Please try strengthening your faith and have patience if you want to progress. Even when a Sadguru is there to help, human tendencies like greed, anger, jealously of other human beings around Him does not come to a sudden halt. Due to the influence of the Master the evil qualities slowly reduce.

Shri Shirdi Sai speaks-19th July/Today is Mangala Gauri Vrat in North India /BABA May I Answer

Festivals, Vrat and Auspicious daysMangala Gauri Vrat in North India
Mangala Gauri Puja, or Mangala Gauri Vrata, is observed by married women on Tuesdays (Mangalwar) in the Hindu month of Shravan. Mangala Gouri Puja 2011 dates in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra are –August 2, August 9, August 16 and August 23. Mangala Gowri Vrata is observed by women for the long life of their husbands and for a happy and prosperous married life. It must be noted that in traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India, Mangala Gowri Puja begins two weeks earlier compared to the calendars followed in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Mangala Gowri Puja 2011 dates in North India are – July 19, July 26, August 2 and August 9.
Mangala Gowri Puja is dedicated to Goddess Gowri – another name of Goddess Parvati.
Since it is observed on Tuesday in the Shravana month, it is known as Shravan Maas Mangala Gouri Puja.
The puja is done with the intention that Goddess Gauri will bless the house with material prosperity, health and long life

Sravana Mangala Gauri Puja Story
The various Vratas that are observed in Hinduism is based on a story. The general idea of the story remains the same but the characters and incidents change from region to region. This Shravana Mangala Gowri Vrata Katha is from Karnataka known as Mangala Gowri Haadu or Haddu. The shloka or song (prayer) narrated during the puja is also referred as Mangala Gauri Haadu
Long long ago a boy who was studying under a guru went from house to house seeking alms. This was a tradition then and the Guru and shishya only took what was needed for the day. But strangely this boy refused alms given by the queen of the land and took alms from other women. The king and the queen of the land were staunch Shiva devotees but did not have any children.
The queen and the king discussed this strange incident and the next day, the queen again offered rice to the young boy. But the boy did not accept it.
The king came and asked why he was not taking the rice from the queen.
The boy said that the king and queen did not have children and it would not be wise to take alms from a couple who is unlucky.
The king got angry and said only Lord Shiva can decide who should be lucky and unlucky. The king who was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva soon realized that the boy was Shiva in disguise. He then prayed to forgive his arrogance and asked to be blessed with a child.
Shiva blessed the couple but said their child will only live for sixteen years.
A boy, Chandrasekhar, was born to the couple and soon time passed by and the boy became a teenager. The king and the queen remembered the words of Shiva and decided to send young Chandrasekhar, who was fifteen, to Kashi. It is believed that those who die at Kashi will never be born again.
Young Chandrasekhar was informed about his fate and without any other option he followed his uncle to Kashi. On the way, the young boy saw several new things. In a garden, they met a lovely princess. The boy and the uncle heard the princess discussing the glory of Mangala Gowri Puja. It was the Shravan month and the girls were performing the Mangala Gowri Vratha. The princess was saying that whoever she marries will live a long life because she performs the Mangala Gowri Puja with pure heart and devotion.
The boy and the uncle moved forward and they met a prince who was sick. He explained to them that he was to marry the princess of the kingdom tomorrow but he was ashamed to go in front of people as he has fallen sick. The prince asked Chandrasekhar to help him out by appearing in the marriage function. Chandrasekhar agreed.
Young Chandrasekhar appeared as the groom and the first day of the marriage function passed away smoothly. That night Chandrasekhar was to turn sixteen. He explained about his fate and about the real prince to the princess and decided to leave next morning to Kashi.
But that night the princess saw a snake approaching Chandrasekhar; she grabbed a handful of unbroken grains used to perform Mangala Gowri Puja and threw it on the snake. The snake fell dead. She took the snake and hid it in the Kalash used to perform the Mangala Gowri Puja.
Chandrasekhar left the next morning and he left his wedding ring there. The other prince took the place for the day’s wedding ceremony but the princess was not ready to marry him. She said firmly that Chandrasekhar was her husband and she will only sit next to him.
Chandrasekhar reached Kashi and a year passed. He did not die. The strength and devotion with which the young princess performed the Mangala Gowri Puja saved him. While returning back to his kingdom, Chandrasekhar again reached the same spot. He longed to see the young princess even though he believed that she was happily married to the prince.
Chandrasekhar heard that the princess was in the habit of feeding all the people who passed by her kingdom. He went and sat among the people who was partaking the food offered by the princess. Soon the princess appeared. She was closely examining all the people who were eating. She has been doing this from the day Chandrasekhar left; she was sure that one day he will pass by her kingdom.
In no time, the young princess recognized Chandrasekhar. She showed him the wedding ring. The young Chandrasekhar could not control his tears. He said he did not die. The princess said she knew it and explained what happened on the night when he turned sixteen.
Soon they got married and lived happily there after.
C.B. Satpathy: BABA May I Answer
The faith in Baba should never diminish. Will I be successful in achieving the same?
Read, think, speak, hear, write, meditate on Him as much as you possibly can. Use your entire faculties to
understand Him. Try continuously and the candle of devotion will never be extinguished. It will go on shining brighter day by day.
----------
Even though I am sincerely praying to Lord Baba and have a lot of faith in Him, I really don’t
think my problems are solved.
‘Faith’ with ‘Patience’ are the two key words that Baba prescribed for His devotees. Baba is always looking after His devotees in more than one ways, some of which the devotees do not know. Thousands of people are experiencing the help rendered by Baba today as they used to experience when Baba was at Shirdi in His human embodiment. Continue to pray. Life is a continuous process of problems and solutions. God does not solve it directly. He gets it done through us-that is through our Karma or actions, under the benevolent supervision of a Master or Sadguru. Sadgurus tellwhich Karmas (activities) are good and which are evil. He also knows when a problem is to be solved for the best benefit of the devotee. Please always have patience when leaving things at the hands of Baba to decide.
---------
I am an ardent devotee of Shri Sai Baba. I am facing lots of problems at present. Sometimes
my faith in God starts dwindling and I feel there is nothing greater than destiny. Is my feeling
correct?
Blessed to be a Flute God is all pervading. He dwells in every being. But only in a few that divinity is openly visible. The reason is that the blessed souls were freed from several impurities in order to manifest that divinity. It is the tendency of human nature to accumulate all and sundry things and having done so, one simply ignores their utility. A house gets jam-packed with unwanted articles. Likewise, our minds too get cluttered up with unwanted thoughts and there will be no scope for right thoughts. Then how come there be a place to think of God? Therefore, man must make his mind as empty as a hollow flute.
An ordinary bamboo becomes a flute on removing its core substance. Likewise, a man can produce heavenly music like a flute by getting purified. God dwells in a pure heart. He will fill his breath as musical notes in that heart. Elated, He broadcasts soul-stirring songs. The air blown through the flute of heart will become spiritual and the universe echoes with it. The bamboo eagerly awaits for the touch of the lips of Lord Krishna and gets transformed into a flute. Like a flute spreading the melody of Lord Krishna in the universe, we can also spread the melodious message of Baba with our deep yearning for universal welfare. It is not just enough to think, "I must become a flute" but practice is essential for reaching that ego-erased, hollow state.

Sai`s blessings may come as a surprise & how much you receive depends on how much your heart can believe. May you be blessed beyond what you expect!

God is the embodiment of Truth. With His creative power He would often coat the sandal paste of love to our objectives and make our lives happy. For those people who are blessed by His grace, every small matter looks wonderful. The world appears very beautiful. Whatever is looked at would appear to be the love-miracle of God. Every move and word gets charged with God's Spirit-Power. In that state, concentration is more on the objective and utility of the work but not on its magnitude. When a work is taken as a ritual or done under compulsion or done without any spirit, the zeal will decrease. Fatigue takes its grip over us.
Be it in simple works like cooking, washing, nurturing and upbringing children and cleaning the streets, we should be able to see greatness in every work. While doing it, enthusiasm should flood our minds. When we do it so, we work with greater efficiency. It is talent. For this, we need the energizing, inspiring, motivating force that drives us into action. And it is life force. It is the consciousness of soul of is the form of Baba as the Universal Soul. If such soul consciousness be with us, every work will be glorious. Life, like a sweet song will hum along. Nothing looks lifeless. Everything is animated by the Spirit-Force. All our efforts will be crowned with success and glory.

Baba, the Symbol of Divine Love
Love is a great attribute of God. Love is the essence of all principles of God. 'Love thy neighbor as you love thyself' is the divine directive for all. This is possible only when we know that all beings are alike. The welfare of the society and all-round growth lies in this basic tenet. If we understand that the ultimate purpose of human life is to share love with all, there is every possibility of longing for serving the society. It would not only make us but those around us get enveloped in love. Indeed, the true sense of sharing our God-infused love is to assure the desperate and lonely people that they are never alone and that we would stand by them at all times.
When love overflows in the heart, it is devoid of any thought of race, religion, creed, color and gender. It just makes everyone float in the flood of love and spreads happiness! Such a divine love gets doubled and enriched upon sharing it with others as God will always be showering His love on us. There are several ways and means of sharing love with others. A gentle touch, a simple talk, a word of encouragement, a pat, being sympathetic, listening with patience and so on. Whatever help or service we render to our fellow beings without expecting any appreciation or reward, indicates the fluttering of the flag of Sai Divine Love on the temple pinnacles of our hearts.

Baba said ::Have faith and patience. Then I will always  be with you wherever you are....
The term Guru is split as ‘Gu’ and ‘Ru’. Gu denotes ignorance and Ru means that which helps one to over come ignorance. According to the established traditions, the parents are instrumental in giving birth to a child in this material world but it is the Guru who enlightens one and helps one to overcome the material bondage and become liberated from this trans-migratory existence of birth, death, old age and disease.
Therefore the scriptures advocate that one should worship one’s guru as god. Skanda Purana says, “guru is Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara, guru is the personification of supreme brahman therefore I adore him.’’ The Svethaswara Upanishad says that one will not get liberated unless one worships one’s guru as god.
Guru Poornima is also called as Vyasa-Poornima because all the schools of theistic philosophy that have originated in the country have their source in the scriptures classified or compiled by Veda Vyasa. Veda Vyasa classified the Vedas into four, based on their content and the purpose for which they are recited, compiled eighteen Puranas, authored Brahma Sutras and Mahabaratha, which is considered to be the essence of all Vedas, for the benefit of people who are not knowledgeable in the Vedas.
Like parents only a true guru can selflessly think of the welfare of his disciples at the cost of his own interests. In the fifth canto of Srimad Bhagavatam Vrishaba Deva says that one should not become a guru unless he has the ability to liberate his disciple. Therefore an ideal guru should also be well versed in the knowledge that leads to Brahman. A selfish person cannot realize Brahman. Therefore, unless one has overcome his selfishness and is interested in the welfare of his disciples one cannot become a true guru even if he is well versed in all the scriptures.
Is a Guru essential? – A Discussion between Swami Vivekananda and Sri Ramakrishna

When Swami Vivekananda first visited Ramakrishna Paramahamsa he asked: ‘I have read the Bhagavad Gita and other scriptures several times, I lecture and give discourses on the Gita and Ramayana. Do I still need the help of a saint; do I still need a guru?’
Sri Ramakrishna didn't reply to Vivekananda's question.
After a few days Ramakrishna called upon Vivekananda and handed him a parcel to be delivered at a village a few hours away by the sea route.
Early morning the boat and sailor would be ready and all he needed to do was to go to the village and deliver the parcel to the designated person.
Vivekananda agreed and decided to start early. He found the boat and the sailor ready to put out to sea. Suddenly, upon sitting in the boat, Vivekananda realized that he didn't know the road to the village. He inquired of the sailor who had no clue, either. Vivekananda decided to go back to his guru to ask him the shortest way to the village.
Upon this Ramakrishna said, ‘Narendra, this is my reply to the question you asked me when we met the first time:
Today, you have the medium (the boat), you have the resource (the sailor), you have the road (the sea), you know what to do (deliver the parcel) and you also know where to go but you don't know the way.
Likewise you have read all the scriptures, and you can conduct wonderful discourses on them. However, to realize the wisdom of scriptures one needs a guru, someone who has already traversed that path so that he can guide you through the journey and encourage you to not give up.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy and Blessed Guru Purnima..
Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu

Gurur Devoh Maheshwar;

Gurur Shakshat Parambramha

Tashmai Shri Gurur Veh Namah"

May the Merciful Sri Sai Baba always shower His grace on us and our families and remove our problems and anxieties by giving us all - strength , goodluck, success and happiness with peace of mind.

GuruPurnima Utsav @ Shirdi
The Purnima or the full moon day in Ashada Month (June – July), which is popularly known as Guru Poornima, is of great significance at the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple. The Sai Baba Ashada Purnima Utsav begins on July 14, 2011 and ends on July 16, 2011. The main day of the festival is July 15.
The popular belief is that Sai Baba showers blessings on the day on his devotees.

The Guru Purnima at the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple begins on the Ashada Shukla Chaturdashi – the 14th day during the waxing phase of moon. There will be palanquin ride on the day.
The most important festival is held on the full moon day and includes ratha or chariot procession.
The popular belief is that on one Guru Purnima day Shirdi Sai Baba sat on the big stone that He created in front of Dwarakamai and gave blessings to devotees.
Life History of Sai Baba describes the event like this –
While the arathi was being given on Guru Purnima day, Baba’s face became very tight as if a thousand lamps were lighted with different colors. The surprised devotees wanted to touch Baba’s feet and prostrate before him. Noticing the thoughts of the devotees, he slowly walked towards the big stone that he created in front of Dwarakamai.
As soon as he reached the stone he sat on it putting his left hand on the toe of his right leg and putting the right hand on the thigh of his right leg. Then he looked deeply into the eyes of each devotee, by which the joy experienced by them was beyond description. When they touched his feet, they felt an unknown divine power entering their bodies and reach their hearts. These things have to be personally experienced and cannot be explained. All those who experienced this, started to celebrate Guru Poornima on every Ashada Suddha Poornima day with pomp and gaiety.

Faith is Baba's Precious Gift to us Nothing is impossible for those who repose faith in God. Many people think that faith in God can only be cultivated with hard work. If we whole-heartedly pray to Baba, the Supreme Protector, He shall bestow on us the power of firm faith in Him. To develop such strong faith in Baba, we need to constantly chant His Name, recall His Leelas and His assuring words for seeking His Divine Shelter. If we can control our fickle mind by chanting Baba's Name and pondering His teachings, Baba will enlighten us, create a fort of faith in our heart and dwells there. So, we need not worry as to how faith in Baba should be cultivated. Baba blesses His ardent devotees with the iron will to walk up to Him with upright conduct and thought.
Baba is the Supreme Master of the Universe. He is the One who will purge our sins, transform us into the embodiments of pure form of Truth and save us from getting entangled in the cycle of birth and death. Therefore, like a bud, we must sincerely offer ourselves to Him and devote most of our time to His Service and must also surrender our every thought to Baba. By the grace of Baba, the budding devotion will blossom into a full-blown flower of faith. As our love for Baba deepens, He will safely take us to the haven of joy and reinforces our faith in Him. A fervent prayer to Baba moves His heart to be always with us.

Guru Purnima, also referred as Vyasa Poornima, is observed on the full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Ashada or Ashara (June – July). Guru Purnima 2011 date is July 15. Shri Shirdi Sai speaks-12th July/Today is Pradosh Vrat /BABA May I Answer

Om Sai Ram
Tithi in Hindu Calendar on July 12, 2011 – Today is Shukla Paksha Dwadasi –
twelfth day of the waxing phase of moon in Hindu calendar and Panchang in all places. It is Shukla Paksha Dvadasi till 2:44 PM on July 12. After 2:44 PM it is Trayodasi Tithi. All time based on India Standard Time.
Nakshatra – Anuradha or Anusham or Anizham Nakshatra till 10:20 AM. Afterwards it is Jyeshta or Triketta or Kettai Nakshatram.
Rashi or Moon Sign – Vrischika Rasi.
Festivals, Vrat and Auspicious daysPradosh Vrat.
Pradosh Vrat, also known as Pradosham, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The Pradosha fasting and rituals are observed on the 13th day of lunar fortnight. There is an interesting story mentioned in the Puranas which narrate the origin of the Pradosh Fasting. The Pradosh vrat katha is associated with Samudurmanthana or Churning of ocean and Lord Shiva drinking the poison Halahala. To get Amrita or the elixir of life, Devas and Asuras started the Samudra Manthan or churning of ocean on the advice from Lord Vishnu. The churning of the ocean produced the terrible poison Halahala which had the capacity to devour the universe.
Lord Shiva came to the rescue of the Devas and Demons and he drank the poison Halahala. The demons and gods continued the churning of the ocean and finally they got the Amrut or elixir on the twelfth day of lunar fortnight.
The Devas and Asuras thanked Lord Shiva on the thirteenth day. Pleased with the devotion, Lord Shiva is believed to have danced between the horns of Nandi – the bull. The time when Shiva was extremely happy was the Pradosham period or the twilight time.
It is believed that Lord Shiva is extremely happy during this period and blesses all this devotees and fulfills their wishes during the Pradosh period on Trayodashi day.
Shiva devotees perform Pradosh for attaining moksha and fulfilling their dreams.
C.B. Satpathy: BABA May I Answer
I have been going through a very trying time. Many times I feel that my faith is being tested,
as Baba doesn’t answer my prayers. How come I get no help from Baba?
Many actions are played by Baba from behind the scene for the benefit of the devotees which may not be known to the devotee themselves. Knowing the past ‘Karmas’ of a devotee, the Sadguru quietly works on his evolution. One has to have faith and patience to reap the benefits of His blessings in due course, and at a time ordained by Him. That is why Baba qualified the word “Shraddha” (faith) with the word “Saburi” (patience). Anyone of these two qualities cannot stand without the other as they are inter-dependent. If you read “Shri Sai Satcharitra” you will get your answers as Baba did answer such queries of devotees in His own way.
Do not Imitate Others in the Mode of Worship God is the Embodiment of Eternal Light. There are many paths to reach Him. We must choose the one which we like. In whichever path we move, we should not forget that we can reach God only with single-minded devotion. To some, the path of devotion appears simple. There are devotees who realize God by listening to His glories, chanting His Name and meditating on Him. Some others treat God as a mother, friend, lover and a master. No need for the mastery of logic to realize the Divine Master. Fervent prayers and firm devotion would please God.
One devotee objected to another devotee who was serving Baba by vigorously massaging the stomach and torso of Baba. Baba felt annoyed. Baba would see the intensity of pure love-devotion of a devotee before he accepts his or her service to Him. Moreover, He would manifest in whatever form we worship Him. None can interfere between a devotee and God. If true love springs in heart, the intensity of such divine love guides us to reach God through any one or other medium. We need not imitate others who may worship God by offering golden flowers or serve tasty dishes. Although Mhalsapathy was very poor, the All-Compassionate Baba embraced him and even saved his family too. We must totally offer our mind to God and not imitate or worry about the religious rituals practised by others.
