A Teacher and A Guru
A teacher teaches you by precept:
A Guru teaches you by example!
A Guru teaches you by example!
A teacher teaches you how to be great:
A Guru teaches you how to be the least of the little ones!
A Guru teaches you how to be the least of the little ones!
A teacher expects to receive from the pupil:
A Guru always gives and gives and is never tired of giving!
A teacher teaches you from text books:
A Guru teaches you how to make your life a text book!
A teacher scolds you at times:
A Guru adopts a cold attitude with you at times!
A teacher inflates your ego by giving you a prize:
A Guru deflates your ego by turning his face away from you!
A teacher gives you things you do not have and require:
A Guru takes away everything that you have whether you require them or not!
A teacher fills your head with secular knowledge:
A Guru empties your head so that it may be filled with the Spirit!
A teacher teaches you only for a year:
A Guru teaches you birth after birth until you attain the perfect life!
A teacher may give you up when he doesn’t get the right response from you:
A Guru will never, never, never give you up!
A teacher remembers you only for a short period:
The Guru remembers you unto eternity!
A teacher teaches you in words:
A Guru transforms your life!
A teacher works for money:
A Guru gives you an experience sweeter than honey!
A teacher takes vacations:
A Guru spends sleepless nights praying for God’s benedictions to be poured on you!
A teacher feels happy when he gets more and more students:
A Guru feels happy when he loses a disciple who becomes like him a Guru!
A teacher feels hurt when the student does not show respect to him:
A Guru feels hurt when the disciple doesn’t develop reverence for all that is!
A teacher at times goes on strike:
A Guru like a sculptor each day strikes with a chisel!
A teacher moulds the mind:
A Guru sculpts the soul!
A teacher can turn away from you:
A Guru will always try to turn within you!
A teacher’s love is often selfish:
A Guru’s love is always unconditional!
A teacher’s patience can only be up to a point:
A Guru’s patience is never tired!
A teacher at times can tie you with a rope:
A Guru will always give you a long rope!
A teacher’s mind and heart are infected with desire:
A Guru is utterly desireless!
A teacher feels happy when he gets a student from a noble, aristocratic family:
A Guru is in search of ignoble souls— drunkards, gamblers, prostitutes, men and women taken in sin!
A teacher is a man of scholarship:
A Guru is the captain of the ship which carries scores of aspiring souls to the Other Souls!
A teacher gropes in the darkness of desires:
A Guru is an enlightened soul who kindles the light in the hearts of many!
A teacher is a trader in words:
A Guru is a transformer of lives!
A teacher is a man of information:
A Guru is a man of inspiration!
A teacher is a reader of books:
A Guru is a seer who has seen the secret of life and wishes to pass it on to his disciples!
A teacher teaches one skill or the other:
A Guru teaches us how to develop our will!
A teacher at times becomes a task master:
A Guru is always a friend, a philosopher and a guide!
A teacher tries to be the best:
A Guru gives his disciples true rest!
Teachers there are many and still many more are their pupils:
Gurus there are so few and true disciples there are almost none!
In short, the teacher needs a Guru:
A Guru has already been blessed by the Satguru!
In His Service,
(Ms.) Gulshan Dudani

Message from the teachings of Sai baba for 13th September Never lose Faith in and Devotion for Baba
Despite Hardships and Losses Most of us give credit to our capabilities if the goals set before us are reached without any hurdles. Again, our faith in and devotion for Baba would get intensified if we could achieve our purpose relying on Baba's grace. But, then, things may not always happen as we planned in life. We do encounter adverse situations. Then, despite our best efforts, we may fail to attain our goal. Success may slip out of our hands when we are about to grasp it. We should never lose faith in God wherever, whenever and in whatever manner we may encounter adverse conditions. Only those who trust in Baba as their everything and seek His refuge are the true devotees. It is not true devotion if we trust Baba if everything happens as we wish and lose faith in Baba when we get disappointed and despaired. They are not true devotees of Baba. We should not lose faith in Baba even if a blanket of darkness blocks our way. We should not get disheartened by failures. Indeed, Baba tests our trust in Him in hardships. Failures should not sink our spirits. Let us treat failures as stepping-stones to success. We must persist in our efforts to succeed. God helps those who strive and wait patiently for Baba's Grace. Certainly our life gets illuminated.
