Nothing happens with out God's will and grace.. One great example is something that happened with me yesterday. I was all set to actually send the mail about Vaidyanath jyotirlinga in Parali last night along with the Shri Shirdi Sai speaks - 3rd December mail. I had everything in my hand ready -- the pictures- the matter-- even to top it of I had 2-3 hrs of free time where I was all by myself so no disturbance of any kind .. If u had to ask me last night , I would have said for sure this mail will go before I go to sleep but as we all know nothing can happen without Gods grace. Baba had planned something else for me other than sharing the pictures of Vaidyanath temple with all of u .Even though I had all the pics but I was not able to upload a single picture in that mail. Instead with a single click -- I reached to a link in youtube and started watching the serial Maha Shiv puran and beleive it or not --those 2- 3 hrs-- I could not stop watching the stories behind all the 12 Jytoirlingas and much more. It was like Baba had taken me on a blissful teerth yatra and read the Shiv Puran, himself to me.. It was a very nice experience..
I have uploaded some of the videos of Maha Shiv Puran at http://debu7370.blogspot.com on the right side of the blog. In order to Know more about the Jyotirling Yatra- It is important to watch those videos. I will be uploading all the videos asap . I am sure just like me- you will also enjoy watching them.
Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the most sacred abodes of Shiva. It is located at Deoghar in the Santhal Parganas division of the State of Jharkhand . It is also known as Baba dham and Baidyanath dham.
It is the only place in India where the jyotirlinga and the saktipeeth are together. They lay side by side. Vaidyanath Temple is also considered to be one of the 52 Shakti Pitha shrines of Sati. It is believed that the heart of Sati fell here, when her half burnt body being carried by Shiva at the end of Daksha's yagna, was chopped to pieces by Vishnu's discus.
Three different places have claimed themselves as the real sites for the jyotirlinga of Vaidyanath. Thus there are three different temples- Baidyanath temple in Deoghar, Vaijnath temple at Parli in Maharashtra and Baijnath in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. It is believed that the temple site in Deoghar was a Chidabhoomi where dead bodies were burnt and after-death rituals were carried out.
There are 22 temples in the same campus of different Gods and Goddessess among which Lord Shiva is embraced being as supreme. Modern concepts ascribe that the shrines are of both old and new styles. The temple of Shiva is 72 feet tall and it is lotus Shaped. The top contains three ascending shaped gold vessels that are compactly set, which is donated by Giddhor King. Besides these pitcher shaped vessels, there is a 'PUNCHSULA' (Five knives in Tridenta shape), which is rare. In inner top there is a eight pettaled lotus jewel (CHANDRAKANTA MANI). The 'LINGAM' (Lord Shiva) is also very rare.
There is a very well known story behind this famous Jyotirlinga. The demon Lord Ravana from the Ramayana meditated with all his devotion in hope to make Lord Shiva come over to Sri Lanka so that his city would become unbeatables. Ravana even attempted to lift the holy mountain, Mount Kailash that is Lord Shiva’s abode. But Lord Shiva crushed him with his finger and Ravana begged for forgivenes.Ravana was very disappointed and offered severe penances to Lord Shiva and cut off his nine heads. Lord Shiva revived him and joined the heads to the body like a physician or Vaidya and hence the Jyotirlinga got he name Vaidyanath.Lord Shiva had mercy on him and gave one of the twelve Jyotirlingas to Ravana on the condition that if it is placed on the ground it will take root immediately. Ravana was happy as he was taking his return journey to Lanka.
The other gods objected to this plan; if Shiva went to Lanka with Ravana, then Ravana would become invincible and his evil and anti-vedic deeds would threaten the world. Therefore the gods tricked Ravana. Ravana was offered water by Parvati, who then directed all the waters of three rivers (Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati) into Ravana's stomach.
On his way back from Mount Kailash, Ravana felt an urgent need to urinate and as he could not do so with the holy linga in his hand, he started looking for someone who could hold it for him. Ganesha then appeared as a Brahmin in front of him. Ravana asked Ganesha to hold the linga and went to release himself, but he could not stop urinating because of the trick played on him. Ganesha, pretending to be vexed by Ravena's delay, set the linga down on earth. The moment linga was kept down, Ravana stopped urinating.
Ravana needed to wash his hands after urination to make himself pious. Finding no water source around he hit the ground with his fist and a big crater was made which got filled with water. When Ravana now tried to move the linga, he could not. Out of anger he press the linga down with his thumb. But after restoring himself, he started to offer his prayers for the linga.

If one worships Vaijnath Jyotirlinga a person can eliminate all his/her worries and miseries It is also a giver of Moksha and all types of happiness.
According to other traditions, not noticed in any purana, the 'LINGAM' (Lord Shiva) lay neglected after the death of Ravan until it was noticed by a rude hunter, Baiju, who accepted it as his God and worshipped daily; proclaiming to the world as the Lord of Baiju (Baidyanath).
Some of the purans ascribe the advent of Baidyanath of Deoghar to the 'Satya Yug', or the first age of the world. When Sati, the wife of SHIVA and the daughter of DAKSHARAJA committed suicide in consequence of the discourtesy shown to her husband by Raja Daksha; the heart falling spot of Deoghar (Baidyanath) of SHIVA'S Sati attends is sanctity. Hence the place had been called 'SIDDHAPEETH' .

Athri, personified satvic or pure good nature and transcended the three gunas. Anasuya, the devout consort of Athri, conquered envy, the mother of all vice. The Trinity, Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara, took birth as Dattatreya, to the couple Athri and Anasuya, pleased of their pure devotion. God thought of the need for a Guru who will serve as the guiding light to humans, whose minds, clouded by ignorance, were unable to discern what is good and bad and put them on the righteous path. God manifested as Dattatreya, the form of Sat, Truth, Chit, Knowledge and Ananada, Bliss and initiated the lineage of Guru. The mission of Datta Avatara is to give all access to the spiritual wealth. Thus, He taught Self-Knowledge to the worthy and groomed them to become teachers of wisdom.Lord Dattatreya observed the changes that were taking place in society, adapted His form to suit the changing times and incarnated as Akkalkot Maharaj, Nrusimha Saraswathi and Manik Prabhu and liberated people from sins with His wise teachings. He lit the lamp of peace by preaching religious tolerance in Shirdi as Sai Baba. People who looked to Sai as an embodiment of all gods and goddesses and as the total incarnation of Dattatreya are being blessed to tread the path of righteousness and joyousness, leading to liberation.
