Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust to Construct Shelters for Devotees on Padayatra to Shirdi
Eight Complexes along the 250-km stretch from Kalyan to Shirdi, will have Bathrooms and Halls that can accommodate more than a thousand Pilgrims.
By Santosh AndhaleThursday 18th February`2010
For the hundreds and thousands of pilgrims who walk up to the state’s most famous Shrine, the journey is set to become a little more comfortable. Shri Sai Sansthan Trust, Shirdi has decided to create Eight halt points for pilgrims trudging to the Sai Baba Temple in Nashik. Each year, the Temple sees at least 4-5 lakh people coming here on foot from various parts of the State.
The Trust is creating facilitites along the route to help the Pilgrims rest and refresh themselves before continuing their journey. These Shelters, built at a cost of Rs 45 lakh each, will be equipped with a Spacious Hall, Toilets and Bathrooms and will be able to accommodate at least a 1000 people.
The Trust has chosen spots along the route, which are already favoured by the pilgrims for staying overnight. Two such shelters are already under construction at Pandurli and Sinner which are expected to be inaugurated in March`2010. Jayant Sasane, chairman of the Sai Sansthan Trust said, “We take pride in our Devotees who undertake the Padayatra and it is our duty to take care of them. It is for this we are creating the halting places with all basic necessities for the Sai devotees.” Traditionally, Pilgrims on the Padayatra – which took 8-10 days depending on the individuals and the organizers - spent the nights in some of the villages along the way.
The Villagers are said to be quite cooperative and welcome the pilgrims with food and shelter, though during winter and monsoon pilgrims face a lot of difficulties on the way. Last year saw a large number of youngsters walk up to the Shirdi Shrine, which incidentally, is the second richest in the country.
There are more than a 100 Mandals in the city and in Thane which organise these Padayatras. Santosh Shirduk of Navichikhalwadi Saibhakta Seva Mandal, Grant Road, said,
“It’s a great decision. For the last 25 years we have been taking at least a 100 people every year on the Shirdi Padayatra, and have been putting up in the villages. On the Pilgrimage we do not need fancy luxuries, but the Sansthan taking care of the devotees is a welcome initiative.” Agripada’s Pancham Prabhu, a staunch Sai devotee welcomed the Sansthan’s move,
“Devotees will not have to bother about looking for a place to stay at night, thanks to the Trust. This should encourage more and more people to go on the Padayatra.”
Short Stories with great morals -A Must Read and Must follow
One night, at 11:30 PM, an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm.
Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s.The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxi cab. She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him.

Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant console colour TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached.
It read,"Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away. God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others."

Our Duty is to Show the Path of Light
A wise man will understand the divine ways of God and will walk in the right path. One who does not discriminate between good and bad of his actions will tread the dark path of ignorance. The person moving in the right path will try to bring even the one in darkness into the bright path. A person travelling in the night, for a safe and secure journey, has to follow the one who holds a torch. If possible, he has to lead another person by holding his hand. So, man should first practice the Presence of God. To realize God, one must have the grace of God. Therefore, we should implore with faith and devotion 'Baba! Please help me'. Baba will bless those who earnestly seek Him. In the path lit by the Light of Divine Wisdom, a person could easily cross over the dark sea of worldly life. It is our bounden duty to share with all, the wonderful stories of Baba that give delight and sense of immortality. Dasganu Maharaj spread the joy he experienced by Baba's grace in the entire state of Maharastra in the form of stories, narrated in song and made several people purified in the stream of Sai devotion. He had been blessed and made several other souls blessed too. Let us consider all people as our brothers and sisters and lead them all in the Light of Baba's Love and Teachings. We have to share our happiness with others.
