SHIRDI'S "PAID DARSHAN" CONCEPT -VIP PASS CHARGES FOR SAI BABA'S DARSHAN
Saturday, March 06th` 2010
On a Regular day, over One lakh people visit the Shrine of Sai Baba in Shirdi. On Holidays and Weekends, the number goes up to Five lakh, and during Festivals it exceeds Eight lakhs. The Number of Pilgrims visiting the Shrine has been going up in the last Five years and, likewise there is also a growing demand for VIP Darshan from Ministers, Political leaders, Government officers and Celebrities.
The Trust gets thousands of requests for VIP Darshans every day. It is estimated that every VIP visit holds the Queue for at least 15-20 minutes - not a pleasant experience for Pilgrims, some of whom wait for Five to Six hours before getting close to the Saint’s Samadhi.
VIP Darshans at the popular Shrine has been a contentious issue because devotees regularly faced inconvenience when their queues were stopped to enable politicians and other bigwigs to offer their Prayers first.
So, on Wednesday, 27th Jan`2010, the Shirdi Sai Sansthan Trust had held a meeting at the Mantralaya`Mumbai,in which it had decided to Ban the VIP Darshan Pass system during Week Days and introduce the concept of Paid Darshan, by which devotees could jump over the Regular Darshan Queue, by paying a Fee.

One of the very ardent devotees of Shri Shirdi Saibaba and a very dear friend of mine, Aditi Khosla is leaving for Shirdi for Baba's darshan on 11th of March and she asked me to circulate this information to all the Sai devotees who wish to send their prayer request to Shirdi . Devotees can send their prayer requests till 10th of March Morning [IST] on the following email id: aumssaaiiaum@yahoo.com
Please send your prayers with words "Prayers to Shirdi" in the subject line of the mail to make the clubbing and tracing of prayers easy.
The words in the holy utterances are also like the words in our common speech. Yet, by the teaching of Guru, the words get sanctified and empowered. Likewise, the words in an ordinary book, when taught by a Guru, come alive, reveal the Truth-Light and become sweet and immortal. Like a mother who knows what food to feed the child, a Guru is well aware of what to teach and which book to be read by whom. Baba, the Living God of our times, used to touch and treat the Holy Scriptures with great respect in order to make His faithful devotees appreciate the importance of reading holy books. When, Bapusaheb Jog received a parcel of Tilak's book on Geeta Rahasya, Baba returned it, after touching and placing a rupee coin on it, as a mark of respect. Once Baba presented a copy of Vishnu Sahasranama owned by one Ramadasi, to His close devotee Shyama and instructed him to read it. Again, Baba asked Shyama to present his copy of Pancharatna Geeta to Ramadasi who was peeved at the presentation of his book to Shyama. Baba advised him to shed attachment and cultivate the spirit of sacrifice. Shyama who got the book from Baba and Ramadasi who got the book from Shyama were doubly blessed. Not only did Baba present books but threw light on the teachings of the scriptures.
