What does the word SAI SEVA mean to U ???????????????
Most of us, including me when it comes to Sai Seva- We simply just donate the money and expect someone else to do the actual work. But after reading the below email, I realized how often I took the easy way out. Last night while talking to Ankita ji I realized that it is a fact that some of us do Sai Seva with the intention of getting some Punya in other words adding some good karma to our life but still the real happiness is when you actually sit with the people whom you are helping, the real happiness is when one takes the time to talk to the people whom we intend to serve or help, the real good karma is when we give them our smile and spend time with them thus making them feel important. And in return the smile they give you back will make you feel as if your in heaven receiving Sai's blessings..
I agree with the help of money you can help a lot of poor and the needy but Money can't do everything. Yes, it might give you the satisfaction, that you became the media to help someone but the true happiness lies when you actually are present physically serving them with the things they truly need.Your heart will feel the joy by being their friend and showing them that you truly care. Believe me the shine that you will see in their eyes will be your true good karma and the asset in the form of blessings - you will carry for lives to come..May Sai give inspire you to do the real Sai Seva...
The below email was sent to me by Sai Ankita ji
Sairam to all.....
Like to share Sai’s blessing with Sai Family.. Recently we (Sai family) visited a Sai Mandir in Bangalore... (We got to know about the Mandir through Orkut) on Magadi Road. It is far from the city, a wonderful place, a few kilometres from Bangalore, rather its on the city limits.
It is very scenic and gives the feel of getting close to nature. In such a wonderful spot, is nestled 'Shri Sai Vridhashram'.
This campus houses a shrine for our beloved Shirdi Sai Baba, a small shrine for Lord Datta, an old age home, a home for the mentally impaired children, a home for the mentally impaired elderly people, physically handicapped and the destitute, and a separate hall for dining purposes.
Of all these homes mentioned above, the old age home is taken care of by a unit of a Rotary club, while the other homes and the inmates of the other homes are taken care of by the foundation. I am not exactly sure as to who runs this place or who are the founder, and the other details. We heard that the founder was a spiritual person, honourable and kind, who passed away. There is another person who is taking care now, who is also spiritual and kind to the needy. I am not sure of his details as well.

I have read from several devotees, who had special experiences visiting this shrine. You really can't help going and hugging and kissing Baba, when you see HIM here and you are allowed to do so. :)
There is a small structure just before Baba, resembling HIS Samadhi, which contains HIS name written on it, 1 crore times, by devotees. There is a special vibration when you place your head on this structure.
Leela’s that happened in the Mandir
Every year, during September, they conduct 48 hours' non-stop naam japa (chanting of Lord Sri Sai's name). Iv heard that, on 9/9/ 2009, when this grand event was going on, many devotees had reported to have seen a person, clad in white kafni, with a zoli in hand, a cloth tied to HIS head, walking to the main dias (where Baba is seated) and before they could wait for Him to come down, He had disappeared right in front of their eyes. The very same day, at almost the same time, those serving food in the dining hall had seen a similar person with the similar dress, who had come there and was asked to be fed. There was annadaana (dearest to Baba) going on and several people had come. They served this Special guest, curd rice. This Guest had asked for pickles along with it. They had no pickles in store and hence they had told Him, that they did not have it. But this Guest, being antaryami, said, that there would be a devotee coming from Hubli now and that she would be having pickles in her bag.. And asked to get them for Him..
The helpers there did not understand for a moment, and in no time, there came a lady with a basket in her hand. She had come to attend the Naam japa and to have food. She had in her basket a few bottles of pickles which she thought she could offer at the kitchen, so that they could use for feeding the inmates and the guests. She was from Hubli. As one of the boys came to know of this, he took the pickle from her and served the 'special guest'… But before the other helpers who were standing there, could realise what was happening, the guest was not seen at all. They did not see Him go out…
What a wonderful sport of our Baba!!!! Fillls our heart with love..

Support needed for Ashram...
There are easily about 250 people in this ashram. The ashram almost everyday, any time, seems to feed the visitors. I am sure, with so many sick inmates, whatever the funds are there, they are well exhausted. I thought, maybe that is the reason that the shrine of Baba requires attention. The ceiling is asbestos sheet only. (Asbestos absorbs more heat). There isn't proper ventilation. The hall as such, though big, when looked from outside the door, it looked dark. But the place is definitely illumined by the presence of Baba in the form of a marble idol of height 5 and a half ft. Wonderful HE looks. He is seated on a small dias (stage) in the main hall. The wall surrounding it definitely requires a fresh coating of paint.
The floor of the main hall in which the devotees sit, is broken at many places and is uneven. It’s not very comfortable for the inmates, definitely not for all those ailing inmates who stay there. Due to the lack of windows and proper ceiling, the entire hall seems dark and there isn't sufficient lighting.
The priest and the helpers there have been wonderful enough in doing the best they can. They have made a small arrangement where they light several diyas (lamps).
Having had darshan of Baba there, and having been seated in the hall, the inspiration to do the little we can was so strong, that the next Sunday, we (Sai Family), had been there again, this time with a couple of dresses for Baba, scrubbing material, with plans to mop, scrub and wash the floor, the walls.. And 250 shawls for the inmates. The shawls were distributed, we washed, cleaned the main hall's floor and the walls. The floor of the stage where Baba is seated, was scrubbed, washed, and the ceiling dusted. This was the little we could do from our side. I would like all of us to do more but not sure how to go about it.
So, devotees, please, if you can help in some way, do suggest here. If you know anyone in the business associated with floorings, etc.. Anyone who can be of any help here, please come forward.
The Naam japa is to be held on the 9th of September 2010. We have a few days left. If we could do something, at least with regard to painting and if the ceiling can be fixed, that would be great.
I am not sure if I am doing the right thing to send out a note like this, without the knowledge of the concerned authorities. But anyways, I feel, it is our mother's home and ours too, though we might or might not be frequently visiting there, but still it is our duty... is it not??
Thank you..

Our immediate plans are for the following:
1. Get the walls painted - as it looks worn out.
2. Get the flooring done to make/let the devotees sit comfortably (right now, the floor is uneven, broken at many places, looks like it is a mud flooring).
3. Ceiling of the entire main hall - right now it is asbestos, absorbs excess heat and there isn't proper ventilation.
These are three major things we target.
Apart from these, the minor ones like getting the lights fixed etc would be taken care off.
With Sai bless... we shall all do some seva in this Sai mandir...before September 9th (Naama Saptaha day )
So, all those who are interested, please come forward. For now, we shall give the name of the volunteer with his contact details whom you can contact. He is
Sunil and his Phone number is: 09886522955.

Money Cannot Buy Everything
Human greed for money is increasing day by day, so also avarice and selfishness. People have started believing that money and wealth are very important. Assuming that money is the world's key factor, they want to make money by any means. But money cannot buy peace of mind which is very crucial to one's life. Medicines will not work when mind is in disorder. It is a reality that money plays an important role in certain things. Money serves as a useful tool to those who are financially helped in their dire need. We should realize the fact that money would be useful to fulfil earthly needs, but not helpful to attain salvation. One Swamiji had scores of devotees, disciples in different parts of the world. Among them, one rich but greedy devotee accumulated lots of money by not even spending on his own food. One day he called on the Swamiji. Having heard about his nature before, Swamiji gave a needle to him and asked him to carefully preserve it and it could be returned on reaching heaven. The rich man asked as to how can a needle be carried with him after death. Swamiji questioned him with a gleam of smile, 'what is the use of your piled up money'? You cannot carry it after death. Is it not! Baba used to accept dakshina from several people but distributed it on the same day. We should, therefore, donate part of our money to the needy. Charity is the heart of Divinity.
