A Short Story with a Great Moral:
Do we have time to clean up our hearts and minds?
A typical Indian housewife, keeps her house clean, always polishing and hoovering, washing and wiping. If the kid's leave dirty dishes around the house or if they leave crumbs of crisps all over the sofa she starts fuming inside, nags them and cleaned it up. If guests phoned that they were coming over ,then she would freak out and went into Turbo-Clean up mode - heaven forbid what the guests would think of her if they saw a messy house.
Another Similar Story For The Guys
Tom was a young, eligible bachelor. His sports car was his pride and joy. Not even a single spec of dust could be seen. He was trying to impress the girls. His clean car would attract them to him.
One day he gave a lift to Jitty who was waiting at a bus stop in the rain. Jitty was so thankful, but Tom was fuming when he realised Jitty's muddy shoes had messed up the carpet.
Moral of the story
We spend all our lives keeping our cars and houses clean for the benefit of the opposite sex or for guests, but we spend no time cleaning up our dirty mind. Layer after layer of dirty sins have built up like the blackness around a burnt pot and still it hasn't crossed our mind to clean it up! Have you ever thought if you cleaned it up that Baba Nanak Maharaj would himself come and place His lotus feet inside you?
Self-liberation Assured By the Grace of God And Not By Our Efforts Alone
It is a wrong notion to conclude that salvation is possible by mere worship and performance of rituals and penance. To reach the roof-top of a building, we climb the stair-case step by step. In fact, we cannot jump on to the top. Likewise, celebration of religious ceremonies and festivals, rites and rituals are the different means of attaining salvation. All these practices qualify us to deserve the Divine Grace, which alone can crown our sadhana with success. To presume that we alone serve and worship God in a superior manner is a mark of spiritual ignorance and pride. Baba, God Incarnate, dwelt in Shirdi to show us the path and lead us with His Hand to ultimately reach Him. Baba Himself stressed several times "give up ego and shun arrogance". The road to self-liberation lies in rendering selfless service feeling the Presence of Sai in All and the service so rendered is to His Feet. Self-liberation is the gift Baba presents us in appreciation of our altruistic service for All, with love for the Almighty One. It liberates us from the vice-like grip of the worldly bonds. Not mere human efforts, but Baba's Grace alone can guide us reach His Holy Feet, the Abode of Supreme Peace. Let us always remember Sai and rejoice in His Love-Presence

OM NAMO SAIBABA THANDRI NARAYANA
ReplyDeleteThe question DO WE HAVE TIME TO CLEAN UP MINDS AND HEARTS is very good. I personally feel that every human being on earth have to do first self introspection whether it is good or bad, as Sai narayana dwells in every heart Which is a symbol of mandir. Then only one can attain salvation, if not worldly blessings sometimes in this kaliyug to due to predominance of Kali.
But inspite of this true devotion always yields good results.
